The following is an introduction to the course:
LIFE-PURPOSE AND STRATEGIC LIFE-PLANNING
(For a Christian College or Bible College setting)
COURSE DESCRIPTION:This course is designed to assist in the development of the student’s “Life-purpose” and “Life-plan”—the development of their purpose, mission, and vision statements and a personal action plan for their academic/professional career.
COURSE OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this course is:
- To study biblical perspectives on such critical life-development concepts as purpose, mission, vision, re-assessment, mentoring, and accountability.
- To write a Purpose Statement based on biblical understandings of “origin,” “destiny,” and “identity.”
- To develop a Mission Statement based on one’s “heart motivations,” spiritual gifts, talents and passions.
- To investigate the implications of Purpose and Mission for establishing core values and for decision-making.
- To learn procedures for the development of personal vision, goals, and faith steps.
- To develop an action plan for one’s college and/or professional career that incorporates biblical re-assessment and accountability, and to begin acting on that plan.
- To develop Christ-like character and relational qualities as necessary aspects of professional preparedness.
